What is a custom domain?
Verato MDM Cloud™ ships with five Verato-Defined (out-of-the-box) domains — Core Person, Patient, Practitioner, Health Facility, and Core Organization (see Verato-Defined domains). If your organization needs a data model these domains don't fully cover, Verato MDM Cloud™ can create a custom domain for you, based on any of the five Verato-Defined domains.
A custom domain starts from an existing Verato-Defined domain and lets you:
Add custom clusters and attributes that aren't part of the base domain
Rename the domain to match how your organization refers to it
The custom domain still inherits all the clusters and attributes of the domain it's based on — you're extending it, not replacing it.
Example: In-Patient and Out-Patient
A health system that wants to manage in-patient and out-patient populations as distinct domains, rather than as a single Patient domain, could request two custom domains, both based on the Patient domain: In-Patient and Out-Patient. Each would inherit every Core Person and Patient attribute, and either could be extended with additional clusters or attributes specific to that population.
How to request a custom domain
Custom domain creation is configured in the Verato® MDM Cloud™ Admin Console, which isn't currently available to customers directly. To request a custom domain, contact Verato Support or your Customer Success representative with:
The Verato-Defined domain you want to base it on
The new domain name
Any additional clusters or attributes you need
