What is Householding?

Creating household groups across patient identities gives you a more complete understanding of a patient’s environment. Knowledge of patient’s household members gives health systems the ability to create better custom engagement and grow new patient volumes.

For information on how householding can be used, see the following video:

In more technical terms, "householding" describes the grouping of multiple Link IDs based on similarities in their core and/or extended attributes. We household based on the most recently asserted values of the attributes included in the household definition.

For example, multiple Link IDs based on the same last name or an address, or all links with the same health insurance information, could be grouped into a "household", which in turn can be used to make it easier to view the data and potentially offer expanded services or better-targeted marketing efforts.

Just as each unique person identity is assigned a Link ID in your Verato software instance, each unique household is assigned a Household ID in your Verato software instance. Each time there is a change in the underlying data (adding a new patient record, updating attribute data, merging or deleting records are just some examples), the Household ID assignment is re-evaluated using the most recent data.

Householding can be used in a variety of ways. For example, you could use it to improve patient services by identifying patients that live alone and offer transportation services or medication reminders. You can also use it to help avoid duplicating marketing efforts by viewing records based on address and marketing to a household instead of individuals within that household.

How to Enable Householding
